PART BRED REGISTRY:
The Society maintains a Part-Bred Registry to encourage the production of
horses and ponies of good quality with substance, courage and agility, from
Dales Stallions. Cross breeding from Dales mares is
discouraged as the breed is still recovering from near extinction.
The Partbred Registry will register crossbred
foals, being the offspring of a registered, licensed purebred Dales stallion as
1/2 Dales, 3/4, 7/8 etc., but never will it be possible to achieve a “purebred”
Dales by means of upgrading. No matter what the percentage of Dales in the pony,
it will remain in the Part Bred section of the Registry. All Dales stallions
must be DNA tested and licensed at three years of age. However, DNA testing is
not required for the partbred foals nor their dams.
